Elderly Man Dies After Acid Attack, Police Investigating Accused of Black Magic
In a tragic incident, an 85-year-old man in Maharashtra’s Jalna district has passed away due to severe burn injuries sustained in an acid attack. The attack occurred on the night of September 1, and the victim, identified as Shrirang Shejul, battled for his life for over two weeks before succumbing to his injuries on September 18.
According to the police, the attack took place when Shrirang was asleep on the veranda of his house. His family was awakened his cries and discovered him covered in chemicals, with severe burns on his body. It is alleged that the attack was carried out two individuals who accused Shrirang of practicing black magic against them.
The suspects, identified as Nandu Shejul and Bhaskar Sable, both local residents, have been implicated in a murder case. While Nandu has been apprehended, Sable is still at large. During the investigation, police uncovered a stockpile of acid at Nandu’s residence.
The victim’s son filed a complaint with the police, detailing the gruesome attack. Shrirang was immediately rushed to Jafrabad rural hospital before being transferred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar for further treatment. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save his life, Shrirang did not survive.
Further investigation revealed that three months prior to the incident, Nandu and Sable had accused Shrirang of practicing black magic against them. The duo confronted him and warned of dire consequences if he did not stop his alleged practices.
The police are taking the matter seriously and are determined to bring both suspects to justice. The incident has highlighted the grave issue of acid attacks and the need for stricter regulations to prevent such heinous acts in the future.
