Imran Khan, Pakistan’s World Cup-winning captain, has reportedly been invited to the World Cup final closing ceremony in India, according to a report from Daily Pakistan. The International Cricket Council (ICC) plans to invite every World Cup-winning captain for a ceremony that will take place on the day of the World Cup final on November 19.
The cricketer-turned-politician led Pakistan to World Cup glory in 1992 in Australia. It remains Pakistan’s only World Cup trophy thus far in the ODI format.
Imran Khan’s record for Pakistan includes over 7000 runs during a career spanning over two decades. Khan made over 250 appearances for the Men in Green. He was a genuine all-rounder and brought Pakistan glory as a captain in 1992.
Imran Khan’s achievements include scoring 3709 runs in 175 ODIs with an average of 33.41, 19 fifties, and a high score of 102*. In Tests, he scored 3807 runs in 88 matches with an average of 37.69, 18 fifties, and 6 centuries.
Additionally, Imran Khan also contributed as a bowler, taking 182 wickets in ODIs with an average of 26.61, and 362 wickets in Tests with an average of 22.81.
Despite the invitation from the ICC, Imran Khan might not travel to India for the World Cup final ceremony due to personal reasons.
