Child rights chief advises parents to communicate with their children to enhance family unity.

In a recent event in Jamshedpur, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairman, Priyank Kanoongo, emphasized the importance of parent-child interaction in strengthening families. Kanoongo highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, aimed at easing children’s exam pressure through direct interaction with them.

Kanoongo stressed that in the age of social media, there is often a lack of knowledge about each other’s friends within families, which weakens family bonds. He stated, “Children crave interaction with their fathers, and the absence of this communication has led to the deterioration of families.” Kanoongo emphasized the significance of parental engagement and its positive impact on family dynamics.

Encouraging parents to monitor their children’s social media activity to safeguard them from cybercriminals, Kanoongo also addressed the importance of active parental involvement in children’s lives. The event, ‘Bal Mela’, organized Swarnarekha Kshetra Vikash Trust and spearheaded MLA Saryu Roy, provided a platform for such discussions.

Roy highlighted the adequacy of child protection laws in India and stressed the importance of their effective implementation. Kajal Yadav, the chairperson of the Jharkhand Child Protection Commission, also emphasized the benefits of events like ‘Bal Mela’ in educating children about their rights and responsibilities.
