Chairman Arun Dhumal forecasts that IPL media rights could potentially reach $50 billion.

IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal is optimistic about the league’s future, stating that the media rights value could reach a staggering $50 billion 2043 if the league continues to innovate and cater to the interests of fans. The current media rights value for the IPL is USD 6.2 billion for a five-year period starting from 2022, making it the second-most high-valued league after the NFL which secured a $110 billion media deal for an 11-year period.

Dhumal, a former BCCI treasurer, also expressed hope for a financial boost from the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He emphasized the need for continued innovation and improvements in fan engagement and game quality to sustain the league’s growth.

Highlighting the exponential growth of the IPL’s media rights value from Rs 6000 crore in 2008, Dhumal praised the league as the most-watched cricket league in the world and a strong representation of India’s diversity and global appeal.

Speaking at the RCB Innovation Lab’s Leaders Meet India, Dhumal’s confidence in the IPL’s future prospects reflects the league’s status as a global sporting powerhouse that continues to expand its influence and impact.
