Hardik Pandya recently returned to action on the cricket field in the ongoing DY Patil T20 Cup 2024, appearing for the Reliance 1 side.

The Baroda-born all-rounder injured his ankle in a group stage fixture against Bangladesh at the 2023 World Cup in October, which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

In December, he made the headlines once again as Mumbai Indians bought him back from Gujarat Titans in a cash-only deal.

Upon returning, Pandya was announced as the captain of the franchise where it all began for him in 2015, taking over Rohit Sharma’s place in a move that divided the fanbase.

Now, though, he is getting into his groove for the upcoming edition for the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will be under a lot of pressure given how polarising the decision to make him the MI captain turned out to be.

There has been a constant debate on social media where Pandya has people both supporting him and criticising him. Such has his off-field image been in the recent past; injuries, lesser big-game performances, and more recently, the alleged demands he made in order to return to MI have all played a part.

The 30-year-old, though, is unperturbed all the outside noise.

‘It doesn’t bother me’ – Hardik Pandya on the influence of social media

In a chat with motovlogger Anurag Dobhal, better known his alias ‘The UK07 Rider’, Pandya opened up on many previously unknown facets about his life.

The India all-rounder stated that he is not someone who fancies stepping out of his house frequently.

One thing my fans don’t know about me is that I don’t go out. I am a home boy. I have hardly been out in the last three to four years; the only occasions I have stepped out is when it has been unavoidable, something happened with my friends. I like to stay at home. There was this time when I did not step out of home for 50 days. I did not even see the home lift. I have my home gym, home theatre. The things that I like are in my home.

When one of Pandya’s pictures of a supercar went viral on social media, questions were raised about it. Pandya disclosed that he received a test drive request for the vehicle, that he hadn’t bought it himself.

Main kabhi media mein comment karta nahi hu, to maine kabhi kia nahi, na mereko fadak padta hai (I don’t comment in media, I have never done it, it does not bother me).

What next for Hardik Pandya?

On Thursday, the BCCI announced the central contracts for India players for the 2023-24 season, in which Pandya was allotted to the ‘A’ category, which is also the second-tier in the categories.

He will be captaining the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, and will hope to get back to his best in order to be a game-changer for India at the 2024 T20 World Cup in June, should be remain fit for the tournament.
