Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have broken the jinx of ‘home supremacy’ in IPL 2024. The Gautam Gambhir-mentored team beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Friday night to end the run of home wins in the IPL.

Before Friday, all nine games of IPL 2024 had been won home sides.

Despite Virat Kohli’s heroics in the first innings, the KKR openers demolished the RCB bowling unit early on in the run-chase. With the Chinnaswamy being a batter’s paradise, and RCB’s bowling unit being not-so-lethal, KKR broke the jinx in some fashion!

What happened in IPL match between RCB and KKR?

Despite Virat Kohli’s batting masterclass, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) could only score a below-par 182-6 at the end of their 20 overs. Kohli played from start to end, as he bolstered the score with his 83-run knock.

However, the former skipper lacked a solid partner, as wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Harshit Rana and Andre Russell bowled beautifully for the visitors, bagging two wickets each.

Chasing 183, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) openers had their eyes on the prize. Sunil Narine was on song at the Chinnaswamy, scoring a 22-ball 47 on his milestone 500th appearance in the T20 format. Venkatesh Iyer scored a valuable half-century later on, to get the visitors over the line.

KKR’s complete performance at the Chinnaswamy has them break the nine-match jinx of visitors losing to the hosts.
