After spending 29 years in Seattle, Jeff Bezos is relocating to Miami.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has announced that he is relocating from Seattle to Miami, Florida. This move comes just three weeks after Bezos purchased a seven-bedroom mansion on a private island in Biscayne Bay. Bezos stated that he is making the move in order to be closer to his parents and Blue Origin’s operations in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The announcement was made on his Instagram account.

Bezos expressed his emotional attachment to Seattle, where he has been based since 1994, saying that he has many amazing memories there. He is currently the world’s second-richest person with a fortune of $160 billion. Bezos stated, “Seattle, you will always have a piece of my heart.”

The purchase of the mansion in Indian Creek, Florida, for $79 million, has been reported Bloomberg. The area is known as the “Billionaire Bunker” due to its affluent residents. The transaction was completed on October 12, according to real estate news outlet The Real Deal.

It is worth noting that Bezos also acquired another property in the same neighborhood earlier this summer for $68 million.

Insider reached out to Amazon and Bezos for comment, but they have not responded at this time.
