IDF claims Hamas continues to hold 241 Israeli hostages

Ahead of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s upcoming speech, Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has expressed Israel’s readiness to respond to any threat. He stated that Israel will continue to monitor and respond to activities on the northern border in the coming days.

According to a report The Times of Israel, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari has revised the number of Israeli hostages held the Hamas terror group. He stated that Hamas currently holds 241 Israeli hostages in Gaza, revising the previous number of 242. However, the exact number is subject to change as military investigations continue in the region. It is important to note that this number does not include four hostages who have been released and an Israeli soldier who was rescued the IDF.

Meanwhile, the IDF has also announced the death of another soldier, Staff Sgt. Itay Saadon, in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip. Staff Sgt. Saadon, a tank commander in the 401st Armoured Brigade’s 52nd Battalion from Har Halutz, brings the IDF’s toll to 24 since the start of the ground operation in Gaza.

Adding to the update, the IDF has shared a video showcasing Israeli troops discovering and demolishing a tunnel. The IDF’s security forces also reported the elimination of a Hamas battalion commander during overnight operations. This commander, directed Mustafa Dalul, held key positions in the Hamas Gaza city brigade.

In a separate development, the IDF has released an audio clip, citing a source in the Gaza healthcare system, alleging that Hamas is stealing fuel from Gazan civilians and storing it under Shifa Hospital for terror-related activities.

In a post on X, the IDF has released another video, demonstrating troops discovering and taking necessary actions to neutralize additional tunnels. The Israel Defence Forces stated that the Yahalom combat engineering unit, along with infantry forces of the Nahal and Negev brigades, as well as tanks, have been working diligently to demolish Hamas tunnels discovered during ground operations in northern Gaza.
