BLACKPINK to Break Ground with First-Ever Virtual Reality Concert via Meta Quest

K-Pop sensation BLACKPINK is set to make history with their first-ever virtual reality (VR) concert experience, “BLACKPINK: A VR Encore,” exclusively on Meta Quest. Produced The Diamond Bros in collaboration with Meta, the VR concert promises to provide an immersive experience for fans, placing them at the heart of Seoul through a unique first-person perspective.

The concert has been custom-captured and produced for VR, aiming to transcend traditional concert viewing and offering fans an unparalleled experience within the metaverse. BLACKPINK expressed their excitement about embracing the dynamic world of VR. They see the VR concert as an extension of their tour and expressed their gratitude to their dedicated fanbase, BLINKs, for their support.

Meta’s VP of Metaverse, Vishal Shah, acknowledged the transformative impact BLACKPINK has on the music industry, redefining how fans experience performances and connect with their favorite artists. The much-anticipated “BLACKPINK: A VR Encore” is scheduled to debut in VR on December 26 at 5 p.m. PT. Fans can RSVP to the event and plan their avatar’s concert day look, with the replay available in Meta’s virtual Worlds the following month for those who miss the premiere.

In addition to BLACKPINK’s VR show, Meta Horizon Worlds will also host a series of weekly concerts in collaboration with iHeartRadio and Red Rocks. The Red Rocks Live in VR series will feature performances Alison Wonderland and Louis the Child, both starting at 5 p.m. PT. These concerts will be accessible for free in Music Valley, a specially designed festival environment within Worlds, adding interactive elements such as DDR-DJ, ASMR UFO, and Lunar Laser for entertainment between sets.
