Calcutta HC requests CBI Chief to virtually attend court on Oct 4 for investigation on Cash-for-jobs Scam

Calcutta High Court has summoned the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Praveen Sood, to attend the court proceedings virtually on October 4. The court expressed dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the CBI’s investigation into the cash-for-jobs case and questioned the sincerity of the probe. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, who is presiding over the case, reviewed the case diary submitted the CBI and noted a lack of serious intent and a casual approach to the investigation. The court also highlighted that the CBI’s arrest of a few individuals involved in the scam was not indicative of a concerted effort to address the irregularities. In order to ensure accountability, the CBI director has been asked to appear before the court virtually.
