Federal legislature prevents BRS “vehicle” in Telangana, Revanth Reddy leads in Kamareddy seat while KCR falls behind.

Congress Hand Stops Bharat Rashtra Samiti Car in Telangana, as Party Comfortably Crosses Majority Mark

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 3: The latest trends from the Election Commission of India reveal that the Congress has comfortably reached the majority mark in Telangana, with the party leading on 61 seats.

According to the Election Commission, the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) is trailing behind, with 36 seats, while the BJP is leading on 10 seats.

Notably, Telangana Congress President, Anumula Revanth Reddy, is leading from the Kamareddy seat, leaving Telangana CM KCR trailing behind. Revanth Reddy, a former two-time MLA from TDP, left the party to join Congress in 2017, and was appointed president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in 2021.

The Telangana election results are crucial for the Congress as it heads into the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. A win in Karnataka and Telangana would further solidify the party’s presence in the South. The Congress, which was written off just six months ago, has seen an upturn in fortunes, possibly due to perceived anti-incumbency at the constituency level against BRS MLAs, the energy infused the Karnataka victory, the BJP’s decline, and the perception of an alliance between the BRS and AIMIM with the BJP.

Additionally, Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury said that BRS leaders are in touch with the grand old party, emphasizing that “Today’s politics is like that. They are in touch with us. Sometimes they take away ours (MLAs), and sometimes theirs come here.”

As the counting proceeds, a total of 103 legislators will be revealed as re-contesting this time, most of them from the ruling BRS. A clear picture of the result is likely to emerge noon.

The fate of 2,290 candidates from 109 parties, including national and regional parties, will be revealed as the counting proceeds.

The Telangana election results are expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape in the region, with celebrations already beginning outside the Congress office in Hyderabad over the party crossing the halfway mark comfortably.

The detailed implications of the election results and the composition of the legislative assembly will become clearer as the day progresses. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
