In a shocking incident in southwest Delhi’s RK Puram area, a 24-year-old government employee has been arrested for allegedly killing his colleague, wrapping his body in polythene, and burying it in a vacant house in his neighborhood. The accused, identified as Anish, is a resident of RK Puram Sector-2 and works at Survey of India.

According to the police, the victim, Mahesh, had loaned Anish Rs 9 lakh. The crime occurred when Mahesh demanded his money back and berated Anish for spending money on his girlfriend.

The incident came to light on August 29 when Mahesh’s brother, Anesh, filed a missing person report at RK Puram Police Station. Mahesh was last seen on August 28, leaving his house to meet Anish at RK Puram Sector-2. However, he never returned.

During the investigation, Anish became a suspect as he failed to inform the police about Mahesh’s visit to his house. Anish had even promised to help in the search for Mahesh. Subsequently, Anish confessed to killing Mahesh, citing harassment and insults as the motives.

Anish lured Mahesh to his house in RK Puram on the day of the incident, where he killed him and buried his body near the house where sewer work was taking place. The accused had recently splurged on new furniture, spending around three to four lakhs. The investigators believe that the accused hit Mahesh multiple times.

Meanwhile, the police are also investigating a debt-related status update on Anish’s WhatsApp account, in which he mentioned a debt of approximately Rs 65 lakhs. They are checking all the facts in the case and exploring possible links to a job scam.

Law enforcement officials are also verifying Anish’s claims that he first went to Faridabad and then to his hometown in Sonipat, Haryana. The investigation is underway to determine who covered the burial pit with cement.

The police recovered Mahesh’s body near Anish’s house and seized Rs 5 lakh in cash, two vehicles used in the crime, and the murder weapon.
