Bharat Moto GP 2023, which took place from September 22nd to September 24th, was a highly anticipated event for racing enthusiasts. With 41 skilled racers competing for the ultimate championship, the atmosphere at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida was filled with excitement and glamour.
While the audience at the circuit and millions watching from over 200 countries enjoyed the thrilling race, behind the scenes, a dedicated team was ensuring the smooth running of the event. Tata Communications, a leading communications company, took charge of the broadcast and logistics.
I had the privilege of gaining exclusive access behind the scenes of this spectacular show. Accompanying the Tata Communications team, I witnessed firsthand the intricate logistics involved in such a massive undertaking.
On-site, the team operated from a state-of-the-art control room known as the Tata Pod. This futuristic control room allowed them to monitor and manage every aspect of video transmission to and from the track. The Tata Pod traveled around the world with the team, ensuring seamless connectivity.
The video feeds were encoded on-site and then transmitted to a remote production gallery in Barcelona. In Barcelona, the live TV feeds were produced and distributed to approximately 40 rights holding broadcasters worldwide through Tata Communications’ cloud distribution platform.
Notably, Tata Communications and Dorna teams are actively working towards transitioning from traditional on-site media production to a remote production model. This transition will result in a future cloud-based model, allowing for an increased number of video signals and ultra-low latency, providing viewers with more captivating content. I experienced this transition in real-time, and it was truly exhilarating.
