Indian Navy warship upgrade project awarded to Cochin Shipyard for Rs 313cr

INS Beas, the first of the Brahmaputra Class Frigate, is set to undergo a momentous transformation as it transitions from steam to diesel propulsion. Following its Mid Life Upgrade and Re-Powering in 2026, INS Beas will emerge as a formidable addition to the active fleet of the Indian Navy, equipped with a modernized weapon suite and enhanced combat capability.

This groundbreaking re-powering initiative signifies a significant advance in the maintenance philosophy of the Indian Navy, demonstrating the repair capabilities of CSL (Cochin Shipyard Limited). The project is not only an impressive technological feat but also a catalyst for socio-economic growth, as more than 50 MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) will contribute to the endeavor, generating employment opportunities for over 3500 personnel.
