Lotus Cars, the British luxury carmaker, has officially entered the Indian auto market with the launch of its luxury electric SUV, the Eletre. This marks the company’s first car in India, with New Delhi as the location for its first outlet.
Founded in the 1940s, Lotus Cars has a strong presence in the sports car industry and is renowned for its high-performance sports cars. The company also gained recognition in Formula One, securing seven Formula 1 World Championship titles with its F1 team before selling the team to Renault in 2015.
The Lotus Eletre is priced at ₹2.55 crore for the base variant, ₹2.75 crore for the Eletre S, and ₹2.99 crore for the Eletre R variant. Notably, it does not have a direct competitor in the Indian market as other electric SUVs are priced significantly lower.
Featuring a sporty design with distinctive L-shaped headlights and a captivating front air dam, the Lotus Eletre offers luxury and performance. It boasts a carbon-fibre, three-stage deployable roof-mounted spoiler, and sleek 5-spoke alloy wheels, along with advanced features such as connected LED tail lamps.
Equipped with dual motors, the Eletre offers top speeds of up to 265 km/h and is available in two powertrain options and three variants. Its interior includes a large 15.1-inch floating infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, and a third display for the passenger, along with a 23-speaker KEF sound system and panoramic sunroof.
Lotus Cars’ entry into the Indian market and the launch of the Eletre marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands its global presence in the luxury automotive segment.
