Mahua Moitra summoned LS panel in the cash-for-query case, no more extensions will be given, appearance on Nov 2 required.

The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee has rescheduled Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra’s appearance from October 31 to November 2 in the cash-for-query case. However, the committee has made it clear that no further extension will be granted. Moitra had previously notified the committee that she would be unable to appear on October 31 and requested a later date after November 5. In response, the committee has extended the date three days but emphasized that they will not entertain any additional requests for an extension.

The panel is currently investigating allegations made BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, who claims that Moitra accepted bribes and favors in exchange for asking questions in the Lok Sabha on behalf of businessman Hiranandani. On Thursday, Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai provided oral evidence to the committee against Moitra.

Moitra has expressed her desire for a fair hearing and sufficient opportunity to defend herself against the false and defamatory accusations made Dubey and Dehadrai.
