Two newborn bagirls were discovered abandoned at different locations in the city, with one of them tragically declared dead. The incident took place on Tuesday at the Babu Ishwar Sharan district hospital, where a sanitation worker found a bagirl with her umbilical cord still attached in a washroom of the surgical ward.
The bawas immediately taken to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for treatment. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. VK Gupta confirmed that the baby’s condition is currently stable and she is out of danger.
In another incident, the body of another abandoned bagirl was found in a heap of garbage near a nursing home in the Vishnupuri locality of the Civil Lines area. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway.
It is a distressing situation as newborn babies are being left in such vulnerable conditions. The authorities are looking into the matter and taking appropriate actions. The incidents highlight the need for better awareness and support for mothers who may be facing difficult circumstances.
