OpenAI investor Vinod Khosla, 68, remains committed to working 80 hours a week and continuing to invest for 25 more years

Venture capitalist Vinod Khosla, a Silicon Valley investor for almost 40 years, recently revealed that he still dedicates 80 hours a week to his work, in an episode of “The Cerebral Valley Podcast.” The 68-year-old billionaire expressed his intent to continue investing for at least another 25 years, if his health allows.

During the podcast, Khosla also alluded to potential life extension efforts, jokingly mentioning Peter Thiel’s work in this area. He emphasized that he does not intend to retire as he believes people grow old once they retire, not the other way around.

Khosla initiated his investing career as a general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 1986, and went on to launch his own VC firm, Khosla Ventures, in 2004. The firm has invested in companies like Instacart, Impossible Foods, and DoorDash. In 2019, Khosla Ventures made a substantial investment in OpenAI, totaling $50 million.

Reflecting on his career, Khosla expressed enthusiasm for his work, indicating that he still commits around 80 hours per week. He also mentioned that his current investments are focusing on esoteric areas instead of AI. Furthermore, Khosla isn’t the only business leader known for putting in long hours, with examples such as Elon Musk and Steve Squeri.

When contacted for comments, Khosla did not immediately respond to a request made through Khosla Ventures.
