Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka became the latest player to join the exclusive ‘200 in an ODI’ club when he scored an unbeaten 210 against Afghanistan on Friday (February 9) in Pallekele.

The first-ever ODI double century was scored Sachin Tendulkar in 2009 against South Africa in Gwalior.

The previous highest score in ODIs before that game was 194, first scored Pakistani opener Saeed Anwar in 1997 against India in Chennai, and then equalled Zimbabwe’s Charles Coventry, who remained unbeaten on 194 in Bulawayo against Bangladesh in 2009.
