Premium iPhones dominate the list
The iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple’s most premium smartphones have dominated the list of the top selling smartphones in the world with a sale of 34 million and 33 million devices respectively.
Two other iPhones launched in 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 take the seventh and the tenth position respectively with sales of 21 million and 17 million units. The iPhone 15 Plus, which was launched alongside these devices is missing from the list.
While three iPhone 14 series devices have made it to the list, the iPhone 13 has also made it to the list as the oldest iPhone with sales of 23 million units, taking the fifth position.
Samsung’s mid-range series outperforms the flagships
Unlike Apple, Samsung’s mid-range series have outperformed their mid-range smartphones. The top selling smartphones list include three smartphones from the Korean smartphone maker’s Galaxy A series, including a 4G smartphone. The company’s Galaxy S series smartphones have not made it to the list.
The top selling smartphone for Samsung in 2023 was the Galaxy A14 4G, with a sale of 21 million units. It is also the most affordable smartphone on the list.
