The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 may be relocated from Pakistan as India is hesitant to visit their neighboring country, reported Dainik Jagran journalist Abhishek Tripathi. According to Tripathi, the tournament could be moved out of Pakistan entirely and held in the UAE or ICC could adopt ACC’s ‘hybrid model’ used for the Asia Cup 2023.
In a tweet, Tripathi stated, “Champions Trophy will not be held in Pakistan. Champions Trophy can be held in UAE or in hybrid model like Asia Cup. Unless there is a radical change in the policy of the Indian Government, it will be impossible for the Indian team to play in Pakistan.”
The ‘hybrid model’ was previously used for the Asia Cup 2023 when the BCCI expressed its reluctance to allow Indian players to travel to Pakistan. As a result, the tournament was hosted jointly Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with other teams visiting Pakistan for at least one game, while India played all matches in Sri Lanka.
The tense geopolitical relations between India and Pakistan have led to the Indian government prohibiting its players from traveling to Pakistan. This has raised concerns about the participation of the Indian team in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
