Report finds that Tesla Cybertruck is not worth its price and ‘doesn’t make any sense’

Elon Musk Unveils Tesla’s Long-Anticipated Cybertruck During Texas Gigafactory Event

In a livestream event at the Texas Gigafactory, Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk unveiled the highly anticipated Cybertruck, marking the automaker’s first major release since the Model Y in 2019. Even with the hype surrounding its debut, questions remain about the truck’s practicality and whether it will be well-received the market.

The initial announcement of the Cybertruck in 2019 was followed a challenging journey to production, spanning four years of design complexities and supply chain disruptions due to the pandemic. Despite these obstacles, Musk presented the vehicle in an event that featured a video demonstration of its towing capacity and a display of its bulletproof capabilities.

One of the contentious issues that have arisen is the price of the Cybertruck. Initially promised to start at $39,900, the starting price of the truck is now at $60,990, as reported on Tesla’s website. The top-end model, known as the “cyberbeast,” boasts 845 horsepower and a 340-mile battery range, with a price tag of $99,990. This disparity in pricing has left potential customers disappointed, as many were hoping for a more affordable option.

Market analysis Gene Munster from Deepwater Asset Management expressed disappointment in the pricing and indicated potential reservations. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley forecasts a modest 50 Cybertruck deliveries this year, with a slight increase to 30,000 in the following year. This lukewarm market response is reflective of the challenges faced competitors like Rivian.

One of the central dilemmas surrounding the Cybertruck is its polarizing design. While Musk hails it as groundbreaking, some critics have expressed concerns about its unconventional appearance, with some arguing that it may deter traditional pickup truck consumers, especially in states like Texas and Wyoming.

With production challenges, pricing concerns, and design critiques, the acceptance of the Cybertruck in the market remains uncertain. Despite Musk’s confidence in the truck as “Tesla’s best product,” its fate is still uncertain.
