In a new report released on Monday, India saw a significant 61% increase in women applicants during the July-September period compared to the previous year, signaling a growing demand for women professionals across industries. This surge in applications is attributed to heightened activity during the festive season, particularly in sectors like e-commerce, retail, and hospitality.

According to apna.co, a leading jobs and professional networking platform, the job market landscape experienced a transformation from 2022 to 2023, with the top five job categories being telecalling, accounts, business development, marketing, and delivery.

The festive season witnessed active involvement from prominent companies such as Bajaj, Axis Bank, Paytm, Flipkart, and Reliance, who offered attractive incentives to secure top talent.

“We have observed a significant rise in women applicants and changing job seeker preferences over the past year. Furthermore, the report highlighted that over 1.2 lakh job openings were recorded in August and September 2023 across major Indian cities, indicating a surge in hiring demand ahead of the festive season.

City-wise demand revealed unique patterns, with Delhi showing a preference for roles in Sales & Marketing, Customer Support & Sales, and Accounting Technical positions. On the other hand, Mumbai displayed high demand for Finance & HR, Sales & Marketing, and Business Development roles.
