Reports indicate that a man was arrested for planning a ‘mass casualty’ attack at Elon Musk’s Cybertruck launch event

A 28-year-old man, Paul Ryan Overeem, was arrested for planning an attack at Tesla’s delivery event in Austin. Overeem, who was believed to hate technology, had previously made threatening posts on Instagram under the name “ufotnoitalumis.” He was apprehended in a McDonald’s parking lot the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and remains in custody on a $300,000 bond. Overeem admitted to police that he had weapons in his car and was planning on committing suicide. He allegedly told officers, “I was going to shoot up Elon Musk and the plant.” The Florida man was under investigation for threatening posts he made in an Instagram group chat and was found to have expressed hatred for modern technology. Traffic cameras in southwest Austin spotted his vehicle on November 28. Musk has yet to make a statement regarding the arrest, and both the Travis County Police Department and Tesla have not responded to requests for comment.
