Motorola has launched its latest mid-range smartphone, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo, in India. Priced at ₹23,999, the device comes in two variants. In this user review, we will take a closer look at the phone to help you decide if it’s worth buying.

The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is the successor to the Motorola Edge 30 Neo and comes with several improvements. The device is positioned below the Motorola Edge 40 and offers premium features such as a leather or glass back, optical image stabilization (OIS), and fast charging.

After using the Motorola Edge 40 Neo for a few weeks, here’s my detailed review:

Price and Availability:
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo starts at ₹23,999 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and goes up to ₹25,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. It is available in three color options – Black Beauty with a glass back, Soothing Sea, and Caneel Bay with a vegan leather back. The smartphone can be purchased from Flipkart, Motorola online store, and authorized retail stores across India.

Specifications:
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo features a 6.55-inch Full HD+ pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is powered the MediaTek Dimensity 7030 chipset and comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The device sports a 50MP + 13MP dual rear camera setup and a 32MP front-facing camera. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 68W fast charging. The smartphone includes an in-display fingerprint sensor and supports 5G connectivity.

Design and Display:
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo boasts a sleek and lightweight design, making it a great choice for those who prefer lightweight devices. It is available with a glass back or a vegan leather back, with the latter offering a premium feel. The vegan leather back also prevents fingerprint smudges. The device features a rectangular camera module with two large camera cut-outs and an LED flash. It has volume rockers and a power button on the right side, DolAtmos branding and a microphone on the top, and a SIM tray, USB Type-C port, microphone, and speaker grille on the bottom. The 6.55-inch Full HD+ curved pOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1300 nits brightness delivers a great visual experience.

Software and Performance:
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo runs on Android 13 with the company’s My UX, providing a clutter-free user experience without bloatware or intrusive advertisements. Motorola promises two years of Android updates and three years of security updates for the device. The MediaTek Dimensity 7030 chipset and ample RAM and storage ensure smooth performance. Multi-tasking is a breeze, and the device handles graphics-intensive games well.

Camera:
The Moto Edge 40 Neo features a dual camera setup consisting of a 50MP primary camera with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The device captures decent images in daylight with good details, although colors can sometimes appear washed out. Portrait images and low-light shots also turn out well, with minimal noise and good details. The 32MP selfie camera performs decently in good lighting conditions but struggles in low-light situations.

Verdict:
The Motorola Edge 40 Neo is a strong contender in the under ₹30,000 segment, offering a well-rounded mid-range smartphone with an attractive design and a clutter-free UI. Other options in this price range include the Realme 11 Pro and the Poco F5, which also offer decent hardware and design.
