Tinder has introduced a new matchmaker feature that allows users to have their friends and family recommend potential matches directly within the app. This means that users can now get a second opinion before swiping right. Users can invite up to 15 people to view profiles of potential matches on the dating app. The invited matchmakers will have 24 hours to provide their input, but they will not be able to message anyone on the user’s behalf. The user still has the final say on whether to swipe left or right.
The feature, called Tinder Matchmaker, aims to bring users’ circle of trust into their dating journey, allowing them to see potential matches from the perspective of those closest to them. Melissa Hobley, Tinder’s chief marketing officer, stated that this feature helps users uncover possibilities that they might have overlooked.
Tinder has made the matchmaker feature available in 15 countries, including the US, and plans to expand it to more countries in the future. In a survey commissioned Tinder, more than 75% of actively dating individuals aged 18-25 reported discussing their dating life with their friends multiple times a month.
This new feature is the most significant update since Tinder introduced a premium monthly subscription for its top 1% of active users. Tinder’s parent company, Match Group, has also announced plans to introduce AI tools that assist users in selecting their best profile photos and determining compatibility with potential matches.
Whitney Wolfe Herd, CEO of Bumble, another popular dating app, believes that AI can revolutionize the dating experience helping people find happiness more quickly, safely, and effectively.
Overall, Tinder’s matchmaker feature brings a fresh dimension to the app, providing users with valuable insights from their trusted circles. With additional developments in AI technology on the horizon, the dating app industry continues to evolve in its quest to enhance user experiences and improve matchmaking success.
