What led to Dominica not hosting 2024 T20 World Cup matches?

The 2024 T20 World Cup is generating a lot of buzz as it approaches, scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30. This event marks the first time that the United States will host or co-host a major ICC tournament, with 20 nations set to participate, including Uganda making their debut on the international stage.

However, plans hit a snag as the Government of Dominica recently announced that it will not be able to host any matches during the tournament. Dominica was one of seven Caribbean countries selected the ICC to host the event, with the Windsor Park Sports Stadium slated to host group stage and Super 8 games.

Unfortunately, the government cited delays in venue completion as the reason behind their decision, stating that it would not be feasible to meet the necessary deadlines. This announcement came as a disappointment, but Cricket West Indies chief Johnny Grave expressed understanding and sympathy for Dominica’s position.

While this setback may affect the tournament’s logistics, fans can still look forward to an exciting T20 World Cup in 2024, featuring top cricketing talent from around the world.
